Preorder Policy
B & J Comics Preorder Guide
VERY IMPORTANT — Read Before Placing Any Preorder
All preorders must be placed before the FOC (Final Order Cutoff / “Order By”) date listed in the product title or menu item.
Orders placed after 12:00 PM Eastern Time on the FOC date cannot be guaranteed and will almost always be refunded, as distributors close ordering access once the deadline passes.
Please double-check the FOC date before purchasing.
A Very Important Note About Distributor Changes (Please Read!)
Please understand that all information about upcoming books comes directly from our distributors and publishers — and they may change anything at any time, including:
-
Release dates
-
Final Order Cutoff (FOC) dates
-
Prices
-
Whether an issue qualifies as an incentive variant
-
Print runs
-
Allocations/shortages
-
Stock availability
-
Title cancellations or delays
These changes are completely outside of our control, and we are fully at the distributors’ mercy.
Because of this, we cannot guarantee any preorder, even when fully paid for.
If a book you preorder becomes unavailable due to allocation, cancellation, shortage, or any other distributor issue, we will refund you 100% of the amount paid for that item.
If that item was the only item in your order, we will also refund your shipping in full.
We understand how frustrating this can be and appreciate your patience as we work within the limitations of the comic distribution system.
Ordering by FOC / “Order By” Dates
For shipped orders, it is extremely important that you place your orders according to the listed “Order By” dates.
If your order contains items with different FOC dates, your shipment will go out only after the final item arrives, based on the latest Expected In-Store By date.
This is because:
-
Each order generates one shipping label
-
We must ship all items from that order together
-
We cannot split shipments into multiple packages
If you want items sooner, please place separate orders by FOC date.
Example:
-
Book A — Expected In-Store By March 5
-
Book B — Expected In-Store By March 12
-
Book C — Expected In-Store By March 28
Your package will ship after March 28.
If you want Book A and Book B earlier, place separate orders for them.
Availability After FOC
Sometimes books remain available for a few days after their FOC date, depending on distributor inventory. Availability may change at any moment.
If a book is still listed a week after FOC, you’re welcome to order.
Anything truly sold out will already have been removed from the site.
Thank you for understanding — and for supporting our small shop!
Preorder FAQ
What’s a Preorder?
A preorder lets you reserve upcoming comics, manga, graphic novels, and collectibles before they release.
By ordering early, you’re guaranteed your copy — no worrying about sellouts or missing issues in your run.
When Do I Pay for a Preorder?
Payment is collected at checkout.
This holds your spot and allows us to order accurately from our distributors, who often require final numbers months in advance.
Prepaying ensures your books are held specifically for you once they arrive.
What Is the FOC (Final Order Cutoff)?
FOC is the final date shops can adjust their orders before a title goes to print.
After that date, quantities are locked in with the publisher.
-
Most comics: 1–2 months before release
-
Some hardcovers, manga, and collectibles: 3–6 months before release
Preordering by FOC is the most reliable way to secure your copy.
Where Can I Browse or Place Preorders?
All open preorder listings are available at bandjcomics.com.
Only items with official distributor or publisher-provided images are posted to avoid confusion about which cover or edition you’re buying.
If a book doesn’t have an image yet, we can still preorder it for you manually — just understand you’re taking a chance that:
-
The final cover may differ
-
The edition may change
-
Variants may be reassigned by the publisher
If this is the route you’d like to take, please speak with Tammie in the shop and she’ll assist with the order.
Do You Offer Preorder Discounts?
Not yet.
Our preorder system is still new, and we’re continuing to refine it.
As we improve our processes, we hope to offer discounts in the future — but for now, no preorder discounts are available.
How Does Shipping Work for Preorders?
Your preorder will ship once all items in your order are in stock.
We typically ship within 5–10 business days after the latest release date, accounting for:
-
Distributors shipping to us on different schedules
-
Variants arriving on separate days
-
Items coming from different warehouses or distributors
-
Replacement requests for damaged items
-
Time needed to inspect, bag, board, and safely package everything
If delays occur, we will always keep you updated.
What Condition Can I Expect?
We strive to provide all preorder comics in Near Mint (9.4+) condition.
While many books may hit 9.8, some may not due to:
-
Printing imperfections
-
Handling at the printer or warehouse
-
Minor manufacturing flaws
Each book is inspected individually before shipping to ensure it meets our quality standards.
Are Comics Bagged and Boarded?
Yes!
All comics — and larger items such as manga, trades, and hardcovers — are shipped bagged and boarded for maximum protection.
What If My Order Arrives Damaged?
If anything is damaged during shipping, email us at bandjcomicsetc@gmail.com with:
-
Your order number
-
Clear photos of the damage
We will work quickly to replace the item (if possible) or provide a solution.
Can I Cancel or Return a Preorder?
All preorders are final sale.
These items are ordered specifically for you from the distributor, so cancellations, returns, or refunds are not possible — unless the distributor cannot fulfill the item.
If that happens, you’ll receive a full refund (and your shipping refunded as well if it was a single-item order).
Still Have Questions?
If anything is unclear — or if you’d like help setting up preorders — please call or visit the shop.
Tammie will be happy to walk you through the process, make recommendations, and ensure your favorite titles are ordered well before release day.
