📘 Series Summary
Spinning directly out of the game-changing X-Men: Messiah Complex event, Cable Volume 2 is a relentless, high-stakes sci-fi epic. Charged by his father, Cyclops, with the protection of the first mutant born since M-Day, Cable leaps into the timestream to hide the "Mutant Messiah" from a world that wants her dead. Written by Duane Swierczynski with hyper-detailed digital art by Ariel Olivetti, the series is framed as a desperate game of hide-and-seek across centuries of post-apocalyptic futures.
The primary antagonist is Lucas Bishop, a former ally who believes the child will bring about the dark future he was born into. Bishop pursues Cable through every era, leaving a trail of nuclear devastation in his wake to ensure Cable has nowhere to run. As the child, eventually named Hope Summers, grows from an infant to a teenager, Cable must be her father, mentor, and sole protector against starving wastelands, Brood infestations, and Stryfe. The run concludes by leading directly into the X-Men: Second Coming crossover, marking Hope's return to the present day.
