Booster Gold – DC Comics – (2007–2011) – Volume 2 - #0–47

📘 Series Summary

Launched in the aftermath of the 52 weekly series, Booster Gold Volume 2 presents the definitive "redemption" arc for Michael Jon Carter. Originally written by superstars Geoff Johns and Jeff Katz with legendary creator Dan Jurgens returning on art, this series fundamentally redefined Booster as "the greatest hero the world will never know." In order to protect the sanctity of the DC timeline, Booster must act as a secret Time Master under the tutelage of Rip Hunter, purposefully maintaining his public reputation as a shallow showboat so that time-traveling villains never suspect he is their greatest threat.

The 47-issue run is a love letter to DC history, spanning from the Old West with Jonah Hex to the tragic events of The Killing Joke. The series is perhaps most famous for the "Blue and Gold" arc, where Booster attempts the impossible: saving his best friend, Ted Kord (Blue Beetle), from his fate at the hands of Maxwell Lord. Blending heartbreaking drama with high-concept sci-fi, this volume transitioned through legendary creative teams including Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, ultimately leading directly into the reality-shattering events of Flashpoint.
