📘 Series Summary
During the early 1980s, Pacific Comics emerged as a pioneer of the independent comic movement, and Bold Adventure served as a premiere showcase for high-concept genre storytelling. Edited and written by Bill DuBay (famous for his work at Warren Publishing), this anthology series offered a sophisticated alternative to mainstream superhero fare, blending science fiction, espionage, and pulp adventure with top-tier international talent.
The series is anchored by "Time Force," a cosmic epic with biblical overtones, and features "Anaconda," a precursor to the modern female-led tomb-raiding adventures. This short but impactful run is highly regarded for its visual pedigree, featuring art from legends like Rudy Nebres, Alex Niño, and Trevor Von Eeden. Notably, issue #2 includes work by David Lloyd (co-creator of V for Vendetta), and issue #3 features the iconic John Severin. Though originally intended as a longer miniseries, it concluded with issue #3, leaving behind a legacy of beautifully illustrated, "bold" experimentation in the Bronze Age indie scene.
