Batman and the Outsiders – DC Comics – (2007–2009) – Volume 2 – #1–14

📘 Series Summary

In the wake of the Checkmate and Outsiders: Five of a Kind storylines, Batman retakes control of the team in this 2007 relaunch. Written primarily by Chuck Dixon, the series returns the Outsiders to their roots as the Dark Knight's personal strike force—operating outside the rules of the Justice League. Batman recruits a mix of veteran members and new faces, including Catwoman, Martian Manhunter, Metamorpho, Katana, and the powerhouse duo of Grace Choi and Thunder.

The series is marked by high-stakes international missions and internal friction. From investigating OMAC technology to clashing with the Justice League over the Salvation Run crisis, the team is forced to fight "dirty pool" to keep the world safe. However, the mission takes a drastic turn during the Batman R.I.P. event, which sees the Dark Knight disappear and leaves the team in a state of chaos. The title was eventually rebranded simply as The Outsiders following issue #14 to reflect Batman's absence from the DC Universe at the time.
